Elsie Jean Baker of Lexington, Ky., passed away much too soon on April 21, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington. She was 60. Her passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family, who will miss her as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Countless others will miss her as a friend.
Elsie was born on March 20, 1958, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Robert and Martha Wilkes. Her siblings were Charles J. Wilkes. (deceased), Larry Wilkes, Mary Robey (Don), and Billy R. Wilkes.
She is survived by her husband, George A. Wilkes and two children, William T. Wilkes (Margaret) and Tamera Sue (Bill) Butlar; and four grand-children.
Elsie was a long-time employee at Bluegrass Airport, a job she loved because she loved the romance of travel. She had a green thumb when it came to growing and caring for everything she touched. Her favorite decade was the 1980s because that’s when she met George. To the day of her passing her favorite artist was Bon Jovi.
Funeral plans are pending.
